The Decisive Moment

this is an assignment for my photography module:

in the theme black is beautiful.

Title: Happiness from  surprises

This photo was taken right after my friend blew the flame off the candle. One of the best things after your friend blow the candle is the surprise that comes after that-cream surprise. This is the moment of happiness and surprise after the cream is smerge on the birthday boy’s face.

Title: Bubbles makes the world go round

This photograph was taken in a park. While seeking shelter  to get away from the rain, these two little fellows caught my attention. They were amazed  the moment they see the bubbles in the air. Their expression and finger gestures gave themself away that they wanted to grasp hold of the bubbles. As innocent ones, these were the things that made their world go round. 

Title: Little villain

This little caucasian villain is out to 'steal' coconuts with her other sister in Pasir Ris park. Look at how fast her legs move and how excited she is after she grabs the coconut in her arms and put it in her ‘teritory’. This is the moment which made my childhood momories flash in my head, the times when I played a little villian too.

This is the moment just before the score in an ultimate frisbee match. Check out the intense expression that they all had-a moment whereby it can never repeat itself.

This is who I am

For the first photo named “Little”, I intentionally posed for the camera in such a way that I am squatting down. I am a small size girl with a height of only 1.52m. thus the photo is taken such that the view is looking downwards that shows that I am small. the camera I am holding onto depicts that I enjoy photography. The meaning behind this photo is “I aint too small to be a photographer”. This is who I want to be.

The second photo named “Go” is a picture of my hand gesturing to one side.  This is because I enjoy playing Frisbee and this is my signature post after releasing the disc.  The photograph shows a strong contrast of sunlight and shadow. I enjoy playing Frisbee under the sunlight for I feel very relax and comfortable. The reason why I chose to take this picture in the field is because I enjoy the green pastures. It makes me feel that it is a place where I belong. I named this photography “Go” because I want people to go and do what they want to do, to pursue what they enjoy and love like how I showed my passion through this photo.

Extraordinary out of the ordinary

Clark quay

This is a place where lies a lot of memories for me thus I chose to go to this location. The nightlife and during the daytime shows a very big difference. The nightlife is very wild, happy and cooling atmosphere as this can be seen from the colourful lights. During the day, it is a very quiet and calm place. I took this photo very early in the morning because I want to show the silhouette of the buildings of Clarke quay. I like how the rising sun could cast show a beautiful shadow and image.

Looking through

This is the photograph of my interior shots. Instead of the normal shots of the interior of a shopping centre or house, I chose to take it from the interior of my routine place. Looking through, this is what I see and I took a snap shot of it. I enjoy this photograph cause this is what I see everyday when looking through the building. i intentionally didn’t take a very dark night scene for this as it will be pitch dark. So I took it when the sky is just about to turn dark. This night scene shows anger due to the clouds. I enjoy it a lot cause I like photographs that depict and stir emotions.
